SINCE 1983
Family Owned
& Operated
Roland started RP Morrison Builders in 1983 shortly after the birth of his son Josh. Alongside his wife Jackie, Roland quickly established a name for himself as a premier builder and became sought after for his custom millwork. Well known for his quality craftsmanship, he began to develop his talents into a growing business.
By 2000, exclusively through word of mouth, Roland and Jackie had outfitted a large collection of Portland's buildings including the bankruptcy court house, MECA, Portland City Music Hall and Cross Jewelers. They also had amassed a large collection of impressive residential projects; most of which were located on Maine's coastline, solidifying Roland’s reputation as one of a discerning eye and an impeccable level of craftsmanship.
In 2009 his son Josh joined the company and became the lead project manager. Josh helped procure a younger audience and established new relationships with architecture firms all over New England. RP Morrison Builders, having typically built more traditional structures, was now bringing to life modern forms in both urban and suburban environments. Although the core team of management had expanded; the choice to keep the company small was purposefully made. Josh and Roland are both a fixture on every job site and clients know either one of them; is always accessible. The family dynamic became a piece of the business that clients still seek today.
By 2019, after a decade of working together, Josh and Roland have put together a specialized team of carpenters, subcontractors, and vendors, all of which understand and can deliver the level of craftsmanship expected from an RP Morrison project. With over 35 years in the business and a wide range of projects in the portfolio; they have shown the ability to implement architectural detail and work collaboratively with all types of firms. With a resurgence in millwork over the last five years; Roland's original signature, bespoke pieces of all kind, are now finding their way back into homes and commercial environments. With only a select number of projects taken on each year, RP Morrison has become a sought after, boutique builder with an emphasis on the client/builder relationship.
Owner + Lead Project Manager
With a degree in Electrical Engineering from Roger Williams University and a passion for bringing the perfect team together, I am the glue that makes each project come together. A decade ago, after living in New York, I decided to return to Maine and join the family business. My approach is simple, humble, and collaborative— informed by the needs of each client and environment. I work closely with all parties involved to ensure every architectural detail is implemented exactly as intended.
I live with my wife Jenny, two children, Emma + Miles, and our dogs Billi + Herbie. When I’m not working, you can find me playing music, woodworking, or traveling.
Owner, Interior Designer & Project Manager
I’m a designer, nature enthusiast, and academic with a mission to create interiors inspired by the Maine landscape. My process is both pragmatic and creative—grounding each space with a specific emotion, function and connection to our natural world. My approach is construction-oriented and flexible toward the needs of each client and project.
I believe in a strong juxtaposition of traditional elements and modern, clean lines with playful, bright finishes. I am known for my bespoke cabinetry and of course, my love affair with the color blue. I graduated at the top of my class with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design at the Art Institute. I received accolades such as the National Student Achievement Award and the Presidential Award.
When I’m not at work, you can find me hiking, gardening, near the water or traveling.
Owner & Principal
Shortly after the birth of my son Josh, I started R.P. Morrison as a platform where I could focus on the quality of work I consider most important—the craftsmanship and durability of a home. For many of my early years, I was creating custom millwork pieces for clients all across the country. A range of experience across all levels of the process, from hands-on work to administrative oversight, has gifted me with an in-depth and fluid approach to building. With decades of experience and a fascination with Maine’s unique environment, I carefully obsess about the details of each building project as if it’s my own home.
In my free time, you’ll find me riding my motorcycle on the backroads of Maine or spending time with my grandkids.
Project Manager
Having grown up with Josh as a friend and Roland as my mentor; it felt only natural to join the R.P. Morrison family as an adult. Prior to joining the team in 2020; I had a long history as a project manager in another family run construction firm. Ironing out the finer details is a passion of mine and I find challenges of all kind exciting.
I am fortunate to live with three beautiful women - my wife and two daughters. In my downtime I like to hang out with friends and of course, my wonderful family.
Senior Interior Designer + Project Manager
I am an interior designer with a passion for creating spaces which reflect the unique personalities of their inhabitants. I believe in the transformative and positive benefits of a well designed home. I know firsthand how interior spaces can have a major impact on our mood and well being, and I strive to make every client’s home the best place imaginable.
After graduating from Syracuse University, I worked in commercial and residential design in New York and Boston. My time spent living and working in these cities has provided me with invaluable experience, such as working with limited square footage, unique existing conditions, and varied clients and lifestyles. I enjoy bringing my commercial interior experiences - including offices, hospitality, and restaurants - to the residential setting.
Art and design has always been a major part of my life, and in my free time I enjoy painting, crafting, cooking, traveling, and exploring nature as much as possible.
